Shaykh Sajid Umar attends the pioneering and largest gathering of Huffadh at East London Mosque
The Qur’an Revision Day
Last week one of our esteemed teachers, Shaykh Sajid Umar attended the Qur’an Revision Day, where a mass gathering of Huffadh congregated at the East London Mosque.
Over 150 aspiring Huffadh and over 50 teachers from across the UK such as London, Birmingham, Bristol, Bedford, Bolton, Brighton, Croydon, Cardiff, Kent, Newcastle and Luton, sat together to revise the entire Qur’ān.
This event was organised by the Qur’an Project, with the aim of showcasing how the Qur’an is memorised by the students and taught by the teachers.
The revision day started from dawn (Fajr) and continued til the end of the day. Some students completed reciting the entire Qur’an by midday (Dhuhr Salah) and others completed by sunset (Maghrib).
Shaykh Sajid mentioned many reflections from attending the gathering, one of which he felt that, “It really puts you into a special place. It’s just Qur’ān from Fajr until Isha, you’re only stopping for Salāh, your meals are 15-30 minutes max and then you are back in and it’s full steam ahead.”
